Home Learning

At Whakamārama School we do not set formal home learning.
We encourage our students to be active outside school hours, and our parents, caregivers and whānau to help our learners by:

  • Encouraging reading for pleasure and information.
  • Listening to them talk about things that interest them.
  • Engaging with what they're doing at school.
  • Encouraging them to be physically active.
  • Giving them the opportunity to help at home.

Useful Websites

NZ Maths Practice

You can use this website to help your child practise what they have learned in the past year. It’s best to work together on the year level your child has just finished at school, not the year they're about to start.  After your child completes each question or puzzle, you will see a summary page suggesting next steps.

You can use the Maths practice site on your tablet, laptop or phone.

The Maths practice website is a pilot that will run for six months to help gauge interest.

Maths at Our House

Maths' Kete at Home

The maths kete includes materials that are helpful in learning about maths through making and finding things and playing games together. The page gives you a list of things that you can find around your house or can get cheaply from discount shops.
